#Albrecht in early performances of Giselle

From tenderness all the way to despair, Albrecht, when performed by Ivan Vasiliev, is a character we can
understand and recognize. He brings depth to his interpretation and makes us believe what he feels.

And beware when Ivan sets precision as a priority!
He has beautiful arm lines (as always), and takes such care about style and technical details. All are by the book.

In 2010, he and Natalia honoured the Bolshoi School in Brazil, by guesting,
at the request of Vladimir Vasiliev, in a festive staging of Giselle.

#Quasimodo – A Lesson in Acting

Notre Dame is a ballet based on the novel Notre Dame de Paris by Victor Hugo,
choreographed by Roland Petit to the score of Jean-Michel Jarre.

Petit’s choreography makes the role of Quasimodo very challenging. It is physically demanding and also
relies heavily on the performer’s acting skill.

Quasimodo is an extremely difficult role, but, despite the difficulty, Ivan Vasiliev is a perfect, impressive and heart-breaking Quasimodo!!

This video may not be best quality, but is, even so, exceptional: it shows in detail a most remarkable performance.

The complete Pas-de-Deux can be seen here in all its beauty, despite the physical ugliness of Quasimodo.
The piece is a masterpiece of choreographer Petit, and it is a masterpiece in performance – the kind of performance that stays with us for life.
